KQIs MEDICAL DATABASES
Comprehensive current medical knowledge delivery at the speed-of-light
KQI’s medical database is an exhaustive storehouse of the world’s most current and most reliable medical information, strategically aggregated from gold-standard sources, such as the CDC, NIH, WHO, and peer-reviewed textbooks and journals. The database’s simple, straightforward interface affords an efficient means of searching, documenting, and comparing not only all known pathogens, symptoms, diseases, and drugs, but also numerous corresponding and related diagrams, images, sounds, and videos. If medicine knows of it, then the database does, too.
The medical relational database is the engine that drives all KQIs innovation. Our exclusive authoring system keeps its content current and accurate. The expert human authoring resources used in this process are critical to selecting practice relevant materials with medical graphics, animation and videos to support patient/physician education.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT THE KQI MEDICAL RELATIONAL DATABASE?
Traditional peer-reviewed medical textbooks and journals are designed for paper and used primarily in the educational process. The KQI databases are designed for digital applications and are: educational, documentational, investigational and translational.
For our medical authors this means:
- Content must be concise, precise, compact for rapid eye scanning and educational. The content must support medical decision support.
- Content must be organized to automate the documentation needs of modern EMRs.
- Content must support diagnostic and treatment engines that use lexical tools.
- Content must support patient/family education and help the doctor with patient compliance and encourage proactive activities for personal healthcare.
KQIs EMR
Intelligent Electronic Medical Records
KQI built its Intelligent Medical Record for healthcare providers on the foundation of its medical database. Not only can the KQI EMR query the full scope of known pathogens, symptoms, diseases, and drugs, but it can process and document a full range of healthcare assessment and delivery data. As do typical electronic medical records, the KQI EMR affords the healthcare provider immediate read-and-write access to patients’ text-based information, but beyond a standard EMR, KQI’s EMR processes and documents scans, photos, hand-drawn images, sounds, and videos.
We have prepared a detailed specifications document on our new KQI EMR. If you wish to see its wide range of capablities, (click here).
Exam Room Modernization
To optimize this multimedia EMR technology, the exam room of the future must be a learning kiosk for both patient and physician. By using modern video tools and making the medical exam a bidirectional learning experience, we can change the scope and function of the traditional patient/physician encounter into an encouraging and supportive environment for both.
Using our embedded patient support tools, the patient and their family can both learn and be motivated in the care of their current medical condition. Our goal is to make the practice of medicine enjoyable and rewarding for both the patient and physician; that means we need to replace the sterile exam room model and create a new learning environment that matches our modern multimedia society.
KQI can now offer this intelligent EMR technology for physician office practice using a cloud-based support system. If you would like further information or a demonstration of this system, please contact our sales staff at: sales@kqimed.com.
KQIs DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS
KQI supports an Internet site that offers a customized access to our medical knowledge databases. It has both a consumer and professional interface. For the consumer you have full access to all the medical data but a limited scope of application. For the professional, we offer an unlimited access to the search engine with both symptoms and lab data.

www.dxconcur.com is a subscription website that allows rapid answers to critical medical questions. Dxconcur can provide the following data: disease pathophysiology, disease look-a-likes (differential diagnosis), diseases caused by the primary disease (secondary diseases), disease lab tests of importance; clinically useful information on toxins, drugs, bioterrorist agents, chemicals and any cause of human illness. Dxconcur also has a keyword search so you can ask for any content located in the KQI medical databases.
This tool is designed to accommodate cell phones and other small-screen electronics. Dxconcur is the perfect companion for medical students, residents and physicians who need rapid answers to specific medical questions and don’t have time for a lengthy search engine exploration. This digital resource is available for less than the cost of a traditional medical text and is periodically updated so that it never becomes obsolete.
www.dxconcur.com also allows clinical diagnostic evaluations of difficult cases. This tool is designed for the larger screens of tablets and lap-top computers. This advanced lexical diagnostic engine uses standard medical terminology to query all our data for a comprehensive list of possible causes for illness. This evaluation tool uses both symptoms and lab data to create its differential diagnosis. The user can create multidimensional graphic displays of their findings and use these for medical record insertion or conference presentations. This is a perfect tool for handling those cases that don’t respond to classical treatment or are still in the class of being undiagnosed.

KQIs MEDICAL AVATARS
KQI will soon integrate digital avatars into its core technologies, affording the end user an efficient and intuitive interface through which to access personal medical records and KQI’s medical databases. Such avatars may sound like science fiction, but current developments in artificially intelligent user interfaces will make digital medical assistants a reality in the not-too-distant future.
The best way to look at avatars is to envision an intelligent personal medical valet. Each individual could have his or her own medical avatar just like you can have your own personal cell phone. The avatar would know your medical history and your current medical status. It would also be very intelligent so that you could ask the avatar medical questions that have meaning for you. This avatar would be your medical advocate looking out for your health and longevity. It would interact with other avatars in the healthcare system to schedule and program your healthcare experience. It could be as proactive as its owner would like and provide critical data when needed.
This same technology can be used to build an intelligent physician’s assistant. This avatar would be assigned in the medical education process and would be a life-long aid customized to the individual care provider’s needs. The KQI databases and technology skills would be instantly available so that every decision and plan would be checked for consistency and the avatar would oversee all the burdensome documentation.
None of these avatars are possible without a source of quality medical knowledge organized for human interactive use in the clinical setting. If you would like to read a short story about the potential application of medical avatars, (click here).
KQIs FAMILY MEDICAL RECORD
Healthcare providers routinely use different, and often incompatible, methods and systems for organizing, archiving, and sharing their patients’ medical information. As a patient you don’t control any of these systems and you often only get pieces of your medical records when you ask for them.
The only solution to this problem is to have a patient-hosted and patient-controlled electronic medical record library. In this environment the individual patient or caregiver controls all the data and determines when and how it is distributed.
KQI has developed a special form with instructions that allows a family or individual to capture all their current medical information in one place and keep it secure. You can now host this on you own computer and can access this data anywhere in the world via the Internet. The KQI FMR form will ask all the critical questions that one will need when an emergency arrives and there is no simple way to contact these distributed medical EMRs. The protocol leads you through each step of the process and helps you build a file for each member of your family including your pets.
This simple data collection and centralization project could be a life-saver when you need immediate answers to drug, disease or provider information. It will also serve as the first module for our consumer avatar when it becomes available. If you would like a complimentary copy of the KQI family medical record form, (click here).
